Happy Birthday, Jamison!

“Happy Birthday!” continues to be Jamison’s preferred greeting, even a year later. It’s Jamison’s emotional dipstick for me. If I’m feeling good, he knows I’ll respond with “Merry Christmas!” and I’ll get an, “Ooooooooh!” in return. Games dads and sons play. :-)
Today, though, there’s one important difference: it actually is Jamison’s birthday. So the roles [...]

First Day of School

Once again, the first day of school is upon us. Time for the ritualistic “first day of school picture” taken on the front lawn before the the Japanese maple tree.
And the ritualistic posting of it here. :-)

Oregon Miniature Aircraft Squadron Air Show

Jamison, Melissa, and I went to the Oregon Miniature Aircraft Squadron air show today. For a suggested parking donation of $5, how could we go wrong?
We had a blast! We saw combat, helicopters, boats, RC cars, large planes, ducted-fan “jets,” and a crazy-looking flying “skydiver.” Below are just a few of the pictures I took.

Tabletop Trebuchet

Jamison and his neighbor friend decided they wanted to make trebuchets for their fifth grade classroom science project. What a great idea! That meant I would get to help.
After a bit of searching online, we found some plans for a simple, tabletop trebuchet on hilaroad.com/projects. The plans are perfect for a first build with limited [...]

Happy Birthday, Jamison!

“Happy Birthday” has been Jamison’s preferred greeting for months. Maybe he thought we would forget his birthday was soon approaching. No chance of that!
We celebrated Jamison’s birthday in traditional Logan style: multiple days of friends, family, and fun. Earlier this week, Jamison and a few friends visited the corn maze on Sauvie Island. Yesterday we [...]

This last Friday we drove Ashley up the gorge to college. School starts in two week and since Ashley’s an RA, she needed to show up a early. We spent Sabbath afternoon at Rooks Park, like all good Walla Walla students do.
Lots of pictures after the jump.

Cape Lookout

After our bike ride earlier today and another meal, Rob and I decided to take others on a walk at Cape Lookout. It was a bust. The weather was gloomy and the trees were dripping on us.
The trip was not a total loss. Rob pulled into a private fish hatchery with humongous rainbow [...]

Labor Day was yesterday so today must be the first day of school. Melissa is a Junior which makes her an upperclassman. Jamison is in 5th grade which makes him awesome. Ashley and Heather go to college later this month, Ashley returning and Heather starting.
In honor of the occasion, we take pictures and post [...]
