Ashley and Heather are all moved in and ready for classes to start on Monday. Another year, another fresh start.

Great circle routes fascinate me; they’re so unintuitive plotted on the two-dimensional maps we normally see.
Heather flew from Portland, Ore. to Amsterdam last week, so I thought I’d map her flight.
She flew over Washington, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nunavut Territory, Greenland, Iceland, and Scotland (assuming the flight was straight, probably not a safe assumption).

First Day of School
Labor Day was yesterday so today must be the first day of school. Melissa is a Junior which makes her an upperclassman. Jamison is in 5th grade which makes him awesome. Ashley and Heather go to college later this month, Ashley returning and Heather starting.

Weekend in Mendocino

We traveled to Mendocino, California, to attend a brother’s wedding. We had a wonderful time meeting new people, getting up to date with family and “old” friends, and touring the countryside.

Heather graduates from high school tonight. Because the school board chairman is on a business trip, I get to read the seniors’ names. They’re all pronounceable. I wish I could have made graduation practice this morning, but sometimes work gets in the way.
