I’m experimenting with the K9 WordPress theme. It’s written by Safirul Alredha, or “Zeo” of K2 fame, and is based on the K2 WordPress theme. After a little investigation, I’ve found that K9 leaves out a bunch of K2′s functionality: K2 sidebar modules. Widgets on steroids — K9 uses plain widgets Custom CSS files. Nice [...]

And We’re Back…
This morning, when I checked blogan.net, it wasn’t there. Instead, I had the famous WordPress 5-minute installation screen. Entering the correct information didn’t work. Okay, that’s an understatement; I got multiple pages of database error messages. Doing a repair on the MySQL database seemed to fix the problem until I looked closer. My static pages [...]
CNN Fires Blogger
CNN fires a blogger. Just added to my RSS feed.
Update Your Blogroll Automatically
I used to use WordPress’ built-in blogroll capabilities. No more — it was too much work. My blogroll now updates automatically to always show the feeds I’m reading. Here’s how you can do it, too: Set up Google Reader as your RSS reader. I suspect other online readers would also work, but I know Google’s [...]
Brutal Blog Readers
Catch My Attention. I read a bunch of blogs. So many that I don’t really read them — I skim them in my RSS reader. If something about your post catches my eye (the title, a graphic, bolded headings) I might actually read it. Provide only partial feeds and I’m likely to pass on by. [...]

Because others might be interested, here’s how I did it: Download and install Twitter Tools in your plugins folder. Go to Manage > Categories and create a category to be used only by [...]
Light Blogging
I blame it on Tumblr and Twitter.
Book and Blog: Gluten-Free Girl
On the way home from guitar group last night, I stopped at Starbucks and Barnes & Noble. Very little compares to the relaxation of wandering through a bookstore with a hot drink in hand. I’ve been told that I need to visit the library more and book stores less, but I wasn’t particularly planning on [...]
WordPress 2.3 is Available
Blogan.net is now running on WordPress 2.3, named Dexter after Jazz tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon. I don’t expect any issues as I’ve been running the pre-release betas for a while with no problems.

The Disqus Experiment
Blogan.net is more an experiment than a platform for expressing my ideas. At least that’s the way it’s played out. It works for me. I have fun trying new cool things. If I have anything important (or not) to say, I have a place to say it. It’s time to try a new comment system. [...]
