I think it’s Matthew 5:16 that agrees with this perspective. Most evangelism is nothing more than either threats of Hellfire, or some short of implicit message that “I have it right, and you’re wrong.” Tiresome, boring, and alienating.
Hmm. I think you might have missed in a couple of ways:

David Hayward will certainly challenge your assumptions. He’s a “must read” for me.
I think I did mean Matthew 5:16, if that says “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in Heaven.”
That to me is what true Christianity is all about. Bible-banging evangelism has little to do with true Christianity, in my mind.
Can’t argue with that. :-)
