Iraq Surrender Bill — Shame on Gordon Smith

Gordon Smith - Vote of Shame

Republican Senator Gordon Smith of Oregon joins with nearly every voting Democrat senator (Oops! Make that every; Joe Lieberman is an Independent) in voting to surrender. Let’s hope the President makes good on his many promises to veto it.

Now, how about a funding bill without a date certain for surrender and a pile of pork?

If the Democrat’s were intellectually honest about this, they’d defund the war immediately. After all, Harry Reid said the war is already lost. What’s the point of sticking around? Why lose another American life?!

Like the non-binding resolution garbage we saw when the Democrat majority assumed power, they are trying to be on both sides of the global war on terror (and bring home the bacon for their constituents in the process). Disgraceful! Like the sorry Republicans of the past few years, they show how it’s easier to be the minority party and complain than to have the power to effect change, but not the courage.

Fortunately, the Democrats’ unwillingness to govern has the potential for good. Waffle on, Democrats!
