The K2 theme for WordPress is great. I use it on blogan.
Unfortunately, many (including me) have had problems with the K2 Sidebar Module’s admin screen: the installed modules disappear from this screen even though they continue to be visible on the blog. I recommend the taking following steps to correct the problem. You can check the K2 SBM admin screen after each step.
- Clear your browser’s cache and offline files.
- Go to your SBM admin screen and press F5.
- Restart your computer.
- Delete the K2 files and reinstall them. Make sure you do not delete your headers and custom scheme CSS files.
- While you’re at it, update to the latest K2 nightly. My experience has been that the nightlies are at least as stable as what they replace. YMMV.
I have experienced this problem about three times and as best I can tell, the last two times happened after upgrading K2 by overwriting the older version with the latest nightly. Most of the time, this method of updating works well. When it didn’t (once was yesterday), the new version no longer needed one of the old .js files. Leaving the unneeded file in the directory caused the SBM admin screen not to list the installed modules. The steps listed above will correct this problem.
If none of those steps work, you can also try:
- Deactivate Advance Navigation and Live Commenting from the Presentation -> K2 Options screen.
- Deactivate your plugins. If this corrects the problem, reactivate them one-by-one until the problem recurs. That plugin is not compatible with K2. Unfortunately, this may cause some of your installed modules to disappear. If K2 SBM cannot find the active plugin, it deletes any installed sidebar modules that rely on it.
- Reset and Uninstall K2 from the Presentations -> K2 Options screen. I believe this also deletes all your installed sidebar modules. Reselect K2 from the Presentations -> Themes screen.
Good luck!
