Ann Coulter spoke at CPAC last night. At the end of her speech, she said:
I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word “faggot,” so I’m — so I’m kind of at an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.
Incredibly stupid. It’s really sad to see Coulter flush her credibility like that.
I believe a couple of apologies are in order.
Update:
Also unfortunate was the amount of laughter and applause in response to the CPAC. Maybe it was “polite” laughter (how’s that for irony?), but… I’ll withhold judgment because I can’t tell what percentage of the audience was responding positively. I truly hope it was a very small percentage.
Hugh Hewitt has a great post on the matter. Some commenters take Hugh to task for being too PC, because, after all, the Dems call names too. That’s not a convincing argument for me. We should be debating ideas, not calling names. Let’s raise the level of discourse, not race for the gutter.

Get used to it. That is what passes for humor in Ms. Coulter’s universe. She’s a bazillionaire from her books being perpetually on the NYT Best Seller list week after week, month after month.
If you told me she was mean-spirited, I’d disagree (there’s gotta be a stronger word than that, because mean-spririted just doesn’t capture her mind-set). For the life of me, I can’t see why anybody would spend their hard-earned money on one of her books, but sell they certainly do! And, I’m sure her audience is almost exclusively Far-Right Evangelicals.
She had a book a few weeks back called “Godless.” Guess who got crap smeared all over themselves in that one.
To me, the real crime is that she’s a very well-educated person. Too bad she also didn’t get somen decent manners along the way to her JD.
Listen to yourself: decent manners, JD. What have you been smoking? ;-) I’m thinking she jumped the shark with this one, though. It will be interesting to see how her next book(s) do.
Apparently you aren’t aware that she’s a lawyer.
Actually, I am. I was attempting to make a joke about you complaining that Coulter failing to get some “manners along the way to her JD.” Last I checked, Miss Manners isn’t a law professor.
