Welcome Readers of “Terri Schiavo’s Blog”

Like most bloggers, I like to monitor my blog traffic. When you get as little as I do, it’s not hard to analyze each visitor, looking at the entry page, the exit page, the number of pages viewed, etc. Site Meter also shows me the referring URL.

Today, something strange is happening. Of my 37 visitors so far today, 20 came from “Terri Schiavo’s blog.” I have no idea why.

There’s not much at the TS blog. Just some one-line posts and the Blogs for Terri blogroll, of which I am a member and listed near the top. I almost blogged about the TS blog yesterday (it is clever), but decided against it because it’s so offensive. Then today, all the visitors…

The TS blog must be getting incredible traffic for a blogroll listing to get this sort of click-through numbers. I didn’t get this big a bump in traffic when Halley Suitt wrote two posts mentioning me, added me to her blogroll, and recommended that people visit my blog. According to Site Meter, Halley’s Comment averages 686 readers per day.

I guess this shows that cheap gimmicks can win over quality, at least in the short term.

Update: At end of day, the numbers are 27 referrals out of 49 visitors. I still have no idea why…

Update 2 (30 Mar): I’ve rethought this issue. Because the “Terri Schiavo’s blog” site is so offensive, I removed the links to it. You can search for it if you want to find it. Unfortunately, with everyone linking to it, it won’t be too hard to find. I’m sorry for my part in that.

All of you so obsessed with one American’s hospice transition should have a good look at the suffering caused by the War in Iraq, courtesy of George W. Bush.

There are over 1500 dead soldiers, 30,000 injured on the U.S. side, 100,000 dead and who knows how many injured on the Iraqi side.

The 100,000 dead Iraqi figure seems authoritative. Fortunately, the statistics backing up this figure are worthless, as reported in this Slate article.

Is the war justified if only 8,000 Iraqi civilians have died? I suspect there are some Bush-haters that wouldn’t approve of this war if there had been no deaths.

But no matter. Yours was just a ploy to change the topic and use faulty statistics to support your rant. What a waste. You could have provided useful information to the topic at hand. Why did you click on the link to come to my blog?
